I’m a dumb YouTube video essay creator who really loves the Metal Gear Solid series because Kojima is a special kind of insane I relate to. Plus, MGS2 was a big part of my childhood, since all my older influences played it. So, I can’t stop writing analysis for it, and this is my next one about Raiden, and how he suffers from a sort of context collapse at The Patriots hands. Yes, he is a whiny idiot, and his contrast to Snake is very intentional on Kojima’s part, but only because they made him one, so in a whole nature or nurture sense it’s not really Raiden’s fault. If you set someone such specific conditions that they have no choice, who else will they be but the sum of those conditions? This is a silly video essay about Metal Gear Solid 2, that the self only exists within context. No idea how good it is. Hope you enjoy it.
