I say the word absurd approximately 27 times a day. (And that’s before lunch.) I know it when I see it—life cracked wide open by grief or joy or the utter weirdness of being a person—but when it comes to defining it? All I’ve got is: “Upside down and inside out...ish.”
So I was delighted when @catherinewman casually dropped “the everythingness of life” into conversation like that’s just a thing people say.
Absurdity. It’s the everything-at-once-ness. The “my kid has lice and also I’m praying for a miracle” of it all. The “how is this my life?” whispered into the void.
Drop your definition of “absurdity” in the comments—especially if it involves mysterious stains and a prayer for patience.
