The Courier, either by sheer luck or divine intervention, survives a gunshot to the head at the beginning of Fallout New Vegas. But what would have happened to the Mojave Wasteland if Benny had killed the Courier in Goodsprings?

What if Benny killed The Courier in Goodsprings? - Fallout New Vegas (in text form)
Let’s start with the obvious, which is that several events still play out the same way. Benny still gets the Platinum Chip, still heads through Boulder City, betraying the Great Khans in the process, and still ends up at the Strip. What happens next? Well, we know what Benny’s plan was, and he still has Yes Man to do a lot of the behind-the-scenes work. Benny needs to head to the Fort to upgrade the Securitrons so he can finally wage war against Mr House. But Courier Six he is not. The Courier was invited to the Fort to meet Caesar, Benny wasn’t. He’ll have to use a stealth boy to sneak in. And we know from a quest in New Vegas that his attempt was not successful. Benny is captured by the Legion and killed in one way or another. The Legion now has the Platinum Chip with no idea what the hell it is. Because Mr House has no way to get the Platinum Chip, if he even knows it’s with the Legion, he can never upgrade his Securitron army. He’s still an important figure on the Strip, but is no longer a key-player in the battle for the Mojave. That leaves us with the NCR and Caesar’s Legion, since the smaller factions like the Brotherhood of Steel, Boomers, and Enclave Remnants are never convinced to join forces with one of the larger factions.
A few important people are going to die next. With no knowledge of an assassination plot against President Kimball, the NCR President is taken out by the Legion. Shortly before or after that, Caesar dies because there is no Courier to save him. Legate Lanius takes command. He’s certainly a brilliant tactician, but he’s no Caesar. A primary Legion belief was that Caesar was sent by Mars, the Roman god of war, to save humanity. Legate Lanius… wasn’t.
The Second Battle of Hoover Dam has arrived. Both forces are suffering somewhat on a morale level after the deaths of their leaders, but as the saying goes, the war must go on. NCR wins the day. Why? They have the numbers, tactics, firepower, and technology. The Legion are no pushovers, but because of the nature of their beliefs being based off of Roman ideologies, they’re not really prepared to take on the might of a full-on army, especially with Caesar not being at the helm. As Shoddycast explained in a great video that I’ll have linked in the description, with the death of Caesar, all the NCR has to do to win the Mojave is wait.
The NCR and Legion, that’s big picture stuff. What happens to Goodsprings or the Think Tanks at Big MT, the small-scale shit? Well, me, I’m glad you asked.
In the Big MT, the Think Thanks continue on as they were before the Courier arrived. Occasionally abducting wastelanders, conducting experiments, waging a somewhat trivial war against Doctor Mobius, and live in isolation out of fear of what might happen if they disable their sonic fence.
In Zion Canyon, the battles between the White Legs, Dead Horses, and Sorrows tribes reaches a boiling point. With no Courier to save them, the Dead Horses and Sorrows prove to be no match for the White Legs who use high end weapons like Brush Guns and 12.7mm submachine guns. Joshua Graham also falls in the process, and the legend of the Burned Man goes out with many not even knowing it burned on in the first place.
Lastly, Ulysses waits patiently at the end of a Lonesome Road for a Courier who will never return to the Divide. If he one day learns of Courier Six’s demise, it seems likely that he would attempt to re-establish a settlement in the Divide.

![Can You Beat Old World Blues Without Taking Any Damage?
Fallout New Vegas’s 4 DLCs all sort of do their own thing. Dead Money is more about survival than anything else and Honest Hearts plays things safe. Lonesome Road ends the story of Courier Six, but Old World Blues is the weird one. So why not ask a weird question: Can You Beat Fallout New Vegas’s Old World Blues DLC Without Taking Any Damage?

Can You Beat Fallout New Vegas’s Old World Blues DLC Without Taking Any Damage? (in text form)
Before I did anything else, I ransacked The Sink to find anything useful, which wasn’t all that much to be honest, then I entered the Think Tank, and started what could very well be the longest single instance of dialog in all of New Vegas. I sped through some of it because I already had a general idea of what was Doctor Klein and his fellow Think Tanks were talking about, but it was still almost 13 minutes. Here’s the quick version for anyone watching this for the story:
I fulfilled my prophecy of naming myself Lobotomite by getting a lobotomy and becoming a Lobotomite. The glorified Pez dispensers lost my brain during the lobotomy, I can’t leave until I get it back, there’s some sort of a civil war going on, and I need to pick up a few pieces of equipment.
I went outside for the first time since the last time, saw a LOBOTOMITE, and got into combat for the first time. As soon as I took aim with VATS, I knew this entire thing was gonna suck. Normal headshots with a 9mm Pistol did jack [beep]. According to the Fallout wiki, Lobotomites start out at Level 25, which would explain why this one was would’ve been difficult to [beep] if it weren’t for the critical shot. I picked up one of my favorite melee weapons in all of New Vegas, a Proton Axe, off his corpse. Unfortunately, if an enemy is within melee range, I’m pretty much [beep]ed, so I’m not likely to get a chance to use it any time soon.
It’s not all bad, though. I’ve got a waypoint and I know what direction to go, bronze linings and the whatnot. Before I made any observable progress, I angered two more Lobotomites, one of which had a firearm, a shotgun to be more specific. If you happen to know what a shotgun is, you probably have a solid understanding of why a Lobotomite with one is not a situation you’d wanna find yourself in. All it takes is one pellet hitting me and it’s “Hello loading screen”.
I lured them behind a box and blew both their heads off with a shotgun, stumbled across a Nightstalker because Big MT is a [beep]ing nightmare of a place, then found a Cyber Dog that was not at all friendly, and entered X-8 Central Facility to find my first object. It was inside X-8 that I found my new best friend: the Sonic Emitter. It took out a Mister Orderly Mk3 (mark 3) in just 2 shots.
I did some mad science [beep] and created the perfect amalgamation of man and machine that sadly only lived about as long as my first kid, and pressed onward deeper into the Facility. The time had come to prove my worth to America by dispelling of communist children from a fake school. The Institutional Data Retrieval test is now under way. Basically I just need to get three student records from three different locations and determine which one needs to be put to death. A few obstacles are in my way.
The first are Hall Monitors. They might as well be the Eye of Sauron, because they [beep] me damn near as soon as they see me. The Cyber Dogs are much more worrisome, though. They’re as fast as they are not dogs. The Sonic Emitter is the best weapon at my disposal for dealing with robots, but even it takes several shots to [beep] one dog. I did eventually find a concept that worked: shoot at dog, close door, doggy run away, open door, shoot again. Who knew that all it took to hold back the armies of Hell was a cheap wooden door.

Can You Beat Far Cry 3 With Only A Machete? (in text form)
The game begins with all these rascals behaving as typical college aged children. Shots, turtles, general douchbaggery, you tell by their hats that they’re just asking to be kidnapped by pirates and sold into a life of slavery and possible torture. Oh, well this is a nice surprise. Being tied up and trapped in what may or may not be a bamboo box would be fun if it I weren’t trapped in there two.
While Grant and I make our escape, allow me to explain a little bit about this run. I said “Machete” in the title because you start with the machete as your melee weapon, but you can also get a knife which I eventually upgraded to. What can’t I use to [bonk] people and animals? Pretty much everything. No firearms, no flamethrowers, no grenades, no molotov cocktails, no bow and arrow, no running people over, no throwing knives, no anything else. I can only use the knife or machete I have equipped in the melee weapon slot.
Because I’m trash at sneaking, it took several attempts to half-way escape. Grant, the typical older brother who knows how to do combat [bonk] and promises to keep me safe, got shot in the neck, I sat back, laughed, didn’t attempt to hold him, ran into the jungle and eventually escaped into the water where I blacked out, had a nightmare about a game logo, and woke up in a bed.
Dennis gave me a tattoo without my permission, seemed like a weird thing for someone to do, he gave me a machete, held my hand, showed me around the village, and sent me off to buy a gun. Far Cry 3 is unfortunately more like Bioshock Infinite and less of a Bioshock because you don’t have the option of wielding the machete in your hand as your main weapon. I can’t remove the pistol, but I can sure as hell waste all of the ammo I bought with Dennis’s money.
My island adventure begins now. With my empty handgun and machete dangling dangerously at my side, I approached the first radio tower, discovered that you have to hold Square for like a year to loot containers, got bit by a snake, looked down, and successfully de-activated the towers radio broadcast.
After I showed Denise my map, I was rewarded with 2 guns that are less than worthless to me, and was instructed to go skin some wildlife. Apparently [bonk]ing piglet’s entire family is enough to master the jungle. On the way to the farm, I looted an abandoned shack. Looting containers is something I don’t do much of in this play trough because there’s not much to find that’s worth looking for. Money is only useful for buying medical supplies and occasionally body armor. Normally you’d spend it on weapons and ammo, but that is irrelevant in this run.
At the farm, I [bonk]ed a few pigs, boars to be more precise, and conquered the PTSD I’ve had for about 6 minutes by going back into the water to find the blue plant. I returned to Dennis and used my new found nature trash to create 2 Medical Syringes, upgraded my sack to allow it to contain 32 items, and learned the stab in the back s[bonk].
I got in the truck and noticed that the camera really zoomed in for some reason. You field of view freaks may dislike this part. It was here that I got my first taste of real combat. There are pirate booties just asking to be plundered.
