Where malnutrition threatens the world’s most vulnerable people, WFP is at the forefront to treat it and, most importantly, prevent it from happening over and over again.

We work with governments, supply chain actors and local communities across food systems to bring healthy, nutritious, and culturally appropriate diets within reach of everyone, especially those living in the most fragile settings. In 2020, WFP worked to address the causes of malnutrition in 69 countries worldwide, prevented or treated malnutrition in more than 11 million children under 5 and over 5 million pregnant and nursing women and helped governments in 40 countries fortify foods with essential nutrients.
