Nature is the basis of our national security: the King, to Congress.

King Charles III's address to the United States Congress is one of the most important speeches delivered in that chamber in a generation, and I want to take a moment to reflect on why his words matter so deeply. His Majesty was absolutely right to remind us that nature is not a backdrop to our civilisation — it is the foundation of it. As he put it so clearly, nature's own economy provides the very basis of our prosperity and our national security, and we ignore the collapse of critical natural systems at our peril. This is something I have been saying for years as a Green thinker and activist, and to hear it spoken with such gravity and moral authority before the world's most powerful legislature is both a vindication and a rallying cry. Our generation faces a defining choice, and King Charles has handed us a framework for making the right one. I urge everyone watching — whatever your politics — to take these words to heart. The next 250 years of civilisation depend on whether we heed this message now, while we still can.
