Struggling to achieve light, glowing results? ✨ This might be why 👇

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is starting too dark too fast. When you do that, you lose that beautiful glow that makes watercolor so special.

Instead, think of your first layers as painting the light.
💡Start with your lightest values.
💦Use watery, transparent mixes.
🌚Gradually build darker tones only where the shadows belong.

It’s so much easier to darken later than to lighten once it’s too dark.

Here’s the key mindset shift:
➡️ Your first washes aren’t about “coloring in” your subject.
They’re about establishing light.

Whether you’re painting wet-on-wet or wet-on-dry, build up your values slowly. You’ll start to see your paintings come alive with depth, form, and that glowing, luminous quality watercolor is known for.

Step-by-step tutorials are available on my channel. 😉💛
