Surprisingly, this is one of the first videos on Youtube of a Volvo Crocodile š from Waste Management. And quite frankly I'm just as surprised as you are that I filmed the first full video of one in August of 2020, much less the fact that one is still running. About 80 miles north from me just off the 101 is King City, which is serviced by a Waste Management yard that nobody has ever filmed or photographed. After some chatting with Aaron, he used his magical WMmaster powers and found out from the Ops manager up there that the yard was composed mostly of hand me down trucks from elsewhere in the state. Along with that, there was also the rumor that King City still ran a Volvo Crocodile, but being that that was as of a couple years ago, I highly doubted they still ran one. I assumed much of the yard would be your typical small town WM diesel fleet in California - Autocar Rapid Rails and some Condor ASLs etc.
I had the day off from work yesterday and decided to see what was running in King City once and for all. I stumbled across a pitiful Friday route to say the least, but struck the gold mine when I crossed paths with this Volvo WX64 Croc as it was exiting the freeway. Apparently this truck is the only one that collects in King City on Fridays - that is all 3 streams in this half neighborhood of a route, while other trucks handle rural routes elsewhere in southern Monterey County. So needless to say, the rest of King City's side loader fleet is still a mystery besides what you can make out from aerial images via Google Earth. I believe they have another Volvo Croc along with some Rapid Rails, so I will be up there again on a different day to see what else they have.
You might say this is only Part 1 of this truck as I do have another full video of it on greenwaste...
