So fairly recently WM in Atascadero got a batch of brand new Peterbilt 520 "Think Green" branded Amreps in attempts to phase out the crusty Condors that were practically falling apart. However they have kept at least 2, one Octo and the Elliptical, and have even gotten a first generation Autocar McNeilus Autoreach. I'll be hopefully making another trip up that way soon to get footage of their remaining diesels, but for now please enjoy one of their newest trucks!
After talking to the very friendly driver who I had found before in a Condor last year, he seems to really like the new trucks. According to him they actually have quite a bit of power going up hills, the only downside being that the CNG fuel range is a lot shorter than the diesels. Needless to say vertical clearance is also an issue for these new trucks, being that the top of the tank skims many branches of the low hanging oak trees seen on a lot of their routes. I do happen to like the 520 better than your typical ACX however, so I wont necessarily complain about these new trucks. Not to mention that this one in particular can sure smack a lid open!
