Two faults covered in this video, first one was burnt wiring due to corroded/lazy spade connectors, second was faulty dampers so the machine was walking around the utility room.
This is an older model from the mid 90s, but principles apply to pretty much any washing machine.
The problem with the spade connectors is rather common with pretty much any older (20+ yrs) device which is exposed to a certain amount of moisture. The connectors start corroding, resistance and heat input increases and the connector is loosing spring tension which accelerates the effect more and more which eventually results in a total failure or even a fire.
It is obviously more present with connections that carry a certain amount of load, i have not seen this to such an extend with low power applications.
The dampers are consumables (like shock absorbers on a car) and simply need replacing every now and then.
