A typical (brush - type) washing machine motor has a speed encoder on the back. this relies on a magnet ring, attached to the shaft. due to a bearing failure, the plastic was partially molten and therefore sitting rather loose on the shaft end.
The failure symptoms are over speed and/or only short motor movement before showing an error
depends on control logic type and age of machine.
Direct drive machines (no drive belt) using a different type of motor, but if the machine has a belt, it's most likely a variant of the motor shown in the video
In this episode, we show a durable fix, involving some machining on the motor shaft.
