Who was Socrates and what was his philosophy? Why is there doubt about Socrates' existence and who did he teach? This is an animated explanation of the history and ideas of Socrates. It begins with The Republic by Plato and explains the historical/primary sources on the person Socrates. Why did Plato and Xenophon adore him. Why did Aristophanes Hate Plato? the video ends with an examination of the Socratic Problem, the dispute over Socrates' characteristics and personality.
