I like the Mig-29, it was designed in the 1970s, and it made its first flight in October 6, 1977. It was a 4th generation fighter which was produced to counter the F-14, F-15, and F-16. It had a very long production run from 1981 to 2019. It was first introduced into service in the U.S.S.R. in fall of 1983. It was in service in 41 countries, and currently it is in service in 21 countries, like Russia, India, Ukraine, Belarus, and Algeria being the biggest users.
The Mig-29 was designed to be a light fighter, but it has two powerful engines. It has a very good thrust to weight ratio of 1:1.09 or 1 to 1.09. It is very maneuverable and you can pull very tight turns. You have 60 countermeasures on this aircraft which is okay. The Mig-29 doesn't carry a lot of fuel, but being a light fighter that is to be expected. It is fast having a top speed of Mach 2.3 at higher altitudes, and a range of 1430 kilometers. However, when you are flying at lower altitudes in a combat environment, you will not get a lot of flight time. The flight time might be 20 to 30 minutes.
As for the armaments, it has a 30mm cannon with 150 rounds of ammo. It has 6 hard points which can accommodate 2 R-27R, or R-27ER semi-active radar guided missiles or 2 R-27T infrared guided missiles. It has 4 hard points for 4 R-60M all aspect infrared guided missiles. The Mig-29 (9-12) was in service during the Soviet Union from 1983 to 1991. There were no active radar homing missiles when his aircraft was in service. The R-77 came out in 1994, which was after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Never versions of the Mig-29 can carry 6 to 8 R-77 missiles.
This aircraft has a battle rating of 12.7, so it will encounter aircraft like the F/A-18C Early, F-16A, F-15A, F-14, F-20A, F-4 Phantom II, Kurnass 2000, Baz, Netz, Mirage 2000 series, F-16A OCU, F-16AJ, JA-37D, and F/A-18A. The R-27R, and R-27ER won't have a problem engaging these aircraft. The R-27 radar guided missiles have data link, so if a lock breaks, you can simply re lock the target.
I like to use this aircraft to conduct hit and run attacks, but it is capable of engaging in dogfights. You just have to be very careful when you try to dogfight an aircraft, like a F-16. The other aircraft in that list couldn't win in a dogfight against a Mig-29.
Overall, the Mig-29 (9-12) is a good aircraft. It is fast, nimble, and has a good radar.
