Original Music and Lyrics by Glen Clark
This song is about unrequited love. The protagonist is hoping to win the affections of the one he loves but his efforts are largely going unnoticed.
This music and lyrics came together really quickly and my aim was to keep the song as simple as I could by keeping the number of tracks to the bare minimum (for me).
Fully recorded and mixed in Garageband on a Mac Mini M1.
There are 18 tracks in this song (haha bare minimum);
The drums are made up of 3 tracks. The two main parts were created by hitting the body of my 6 and 12 string acoustic guitars with my fist to create the rhythm. I then added a Kick drum underneath to beef up the sound a bit.
Two acoustic guitar tracks (panned L & R), Bass guitar, Electric guitar, lead vocal track and 8 backing vocal tracks along with two lead acoustic guitar tracks.
The lead acoustics during the instrumental have a strange warble distorting their sound which was created by adding the Tape Cassette 2 Plugin and cranking up the Wow setting.
The video was filmed on a iPhone SE and compiled in iMovie. I had many concepts in mind for the video - all of which just didn't seem to work until I stumbled upon the idea of the central character being a Mime, silently expressing his feelings.
