This could easily be a far more negative vPub, but we’ll try to keep things positive.
It’s just that, I think there are far too many official single malt releases that don’t get close to showing off the quality of whiskies made at their respective distilleries. I wonder why this is.
You would think, with the amount of stock and resources available to these producers, we could see the whisky shine, time after time. It would also then track that the businesses would reap rewards from increased reputations of quality and flavour. Yet, for some distilleries, this seems like it’s difficult to achieve.
I have my own personal opinions and I will share them - alongside examples. But this is clearly a topic that could benefit from your input too. So there’s a poll this week. I love a poll. It seems you don’t mind them either. Especially when it’s consumer feedback and an opportunity for us to get our feelings across, for those who care.
Anyway, back to that trying-to-keep-it-positive thing again - what I’ll try to do is prove the quality of the spirit being made at the distilleries by - as always - relying on the output of the independent bottlers to best represent what the whisky actually tastes like, long before it’s footered with or otherwise neutered for the sake of…well, supposedly profit.
There are some who do things very well, while others seem to make a complete backside of it. In this session, we’ll focus on the latter. With your help. Head over to the poll and share your thoughts - checkboxes only, dead easy!
