Our annual celebration of peat! However this time, I’ll focus on the special stuff. You know, bottles that are waiting for that ‘special moment’. Sometimes the moment presents itself and it’s obvious. Other times we need to recognise ‘special’ can simply mean a Thursday, on a whisky livestream with people from all over Planet Whisky joining in - albeit somewhat vicariously.
What bottles? Well, those that have been around a little too long. Legends of the past and classics of the present, some that carry stories, others with tales of sharing or remarkable generosity. Bottles filled with memories, nostalgia and promise but - more than anything else - that wonderful, aromatic and seductive peat smoke!
Tonight, I really hope it’ll be a line-up for the ages, let’s tackle some of the ‘good stuff’.
