It's somewhat difficult to define what might grant anything cult status. If you go down the (often dangerous) road of analogies using music or film you'll end up in the weeds. It's all subjective. And yet, some things seem to gather a feeling of cultishness, and it's especially powerful when it's not designed; when it's bestowed by an audience, fanbase or consumer set. It has happened in whisky, for sure.
Staying firmly in my comfort lane for this one, we'll stick to scotch whiskies again. We'll scan around all of the five regions and look at which distilleries, in my own opinion, of course, have gained that cult status. But, I think more interesting to everyone, which may be destined to become cult producers of the future? Also - if we consider it a positive thing - which really deserve to be?
This is a solo session, so really looking forward to settling in and welcoming you all there!
