Our Crew were grateful to have been invited by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to volunteer as part of their new native oyster restoration experiment! 🦪
Greedy Gut, a large intertidal pool at YWT Spurn National Nature Reserve, is being improved as a habitat for the next generation of oysters. Wilder Humber’s ambitious programme seeks to restore marine habitats and species throughout the Humber estuary. 🌊
Delivered through a pioneering conservation partnership between Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, and international green energy leader Ørsted, Wilder Humber aims to restore and enrich nearly 40 hectares of estuarine habitats. This includes reintroducing 500,000 native oysters into the Humber over 5 years!
Our team helped transport and lay down a fresh layer of cockle shells across the site, creating the perfect surface for the oysters to settle and thrive. 🐚
