Meet the female Aquarists here at The Deep.
This is Elise, here you can see her testing the water. This is an incredibly important job which has to be carried out on a weekly basis. Samples of water from every single display in the building are collected and tested using a machine called a spectrophotometer. We typically test for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates as well as salinity and pH. Water test results give us a window into the health of our life support systems and allow us to ensure that our animals are kept happy and healthy at all times.
