What is interesting about this lattice is the modulo 3 character: the volcanoes in layers ..., -3, 0, 3, 6, ... are situated above each other, likewise with the volcanoes in layers ..., -2, 1, 4, ... and in layers ..., -1, 2, 5, ... . Also interesting is that each unit is a tunnel between 3 hexagons at the bottom and 1 hexagon on top. The shape has the same topology as the TT surface.
