Sheecacaa3 requested me to make the dipyramid as large as possible and to see what else is possible with this build. I used a different construction method, making it possible to make builds as large as the bottom layer can hold weight-wise, with size 11 I had a collapse because the decagons beneath it couldn't bare the weight, this caused damage beyond repair, so I stopped making it larger. Also, I found how to make a wormhole pentagon, that is 3 layers thick everywhere except at the edges.
To make the outer edge stronger, I use 2 layers at the outside from which no dots have been removed, versus 1 layer in the original design. That is important for larger builds. This means, with the following calculations, you need less dots when you make the shape like the original design.
For number of dots calculations use the following formula:
Wormhole pentagon: size n has 90*n*n + 95*n + 20 dots, with 4n + 3 dots in the outer edge. For example size 7:
90*7*7 +95*7 + 20 = 5095 dots, where the outer edge contains 31 dots.
Wormhole pentagonal dipyramid: size n has 5*n*n*n + 22.5*n*n + 37.5*n + 20 dots, with 2n + 3 dots in the outer edge. For example size 11:
5*11*11*11 + 22.5*11*11 + 37.5*11 + 20 = 9810 dots, the outer edge has 25 dots.
