Strengthening the country's egg industry through innovation and agricultural grant support, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited the new facilities and processing operations of the Batangas Egg Producers Multipurpose Cooperative (BEPCO) in San Jose, Batangas on August 27, 2026.
Accompanied by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato Solidum Jr., and BEPCO Chairman Victorino Michael Lescano, the President toured the cooperative’s new and key facilities, including the Liquid Egg Pasteurization Facility, the Spray Drying Line Facility and the new three-story Cold Storage Facility.
He witnessed various activities at the facilities, including egg processing operations, the preparation of eggs into value-added products, and the conversion of liquid egg into high-grade egg powder through spray drying.
The Chief Executive also held a meet-and-greet with BEPCO members.
"This is the continuing effort of government to cut out the middleman from between the farmer, between the producer, and the market. Ito ‘yung magandang halimbawa na kapag talagang nagtutulungan ang lahat ng mga ahensya ng pamahalaan, ng national government, ng local government, at ng ating mga kooperatiba, ating mga producers, ay makita natin ay napakaganda magiging resulta," President Marcos Jr. said in his media statement.
BEPCO is a model cooperative for closed-loop poultry farming and egg innovation. To remain competitive and sustainable, it needs expanded government support for logistics, feed innovation, dried-egg commercialization, Ready-to-Eat (RTE) product scaling, export readiness and biosecurity zoning. Government support can accelerate BEPCO’s transition to a world-class agri-food innovation hub aligned with the Philippine Layer Industry Roadmap 2022–2040 and national food security goals.
