President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. underscored the government’s continued support for innovation, emphasizing its vital role in addressing pressing challenges and creating opportunities for Filipinos during the 2026 Presidential Filipinnovation Awards (PFA) held at the Crowne Plaza Galleria on Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City on September 3, 2026.
The President said innovation remains central to the Administration’s development agenda. Since 2022, the National Innovation Council (NIC) has provided more than Php317 million in funding to 61 innovation programs, activities and projects under the Innovation Grants.
These initiatives align with the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 and the country’s 10 key innovation priority areas identified in the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD) 2023-2032. These priority areas include learning and education, health, food and agribusiness, finance, manufacturing and trade, transportation and logistics, public administration, security and defense, energy, and the blue economy and water.
“We are committed to creating an environment where more innovators can pursue their ideas, to find opportunities, to grow, and to contribute to the development of our country,” the President said.
During the event, five (5) winners were named 2026 Presidential Filipinnovation Awardees from among 16 finalists nationwide. Each winner received a Php2.5-million cash grant and expert mentorship valued at Php1 million as part of post-competition support to further develop and scale their winning innovations.
President Marcos Jr. also urged innovators and other stakeholders to collaborate closely with the government to address emerging challenges, including food insecurity, flooding, soil erosion, and energy shortages.
