“These initiatives support my directive to the Department of Energy to strengthen public awareness and encourage responsible energy use,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the inauguration of the Energy Museum and the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) at the Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Center in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City on July 29, 2026.
In his speech, the President highlighted the Energy Museum as the country's first interactive energy education facility that promotes greater public understanding of the Philippine energy sector and encourages responsible energy use. He also underscored the gains achieved under EPIRA while recognizing the need for continued reforms, reiterating his call in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) for Congress to amend the law to remove the system loss charge, including the corresponding value-added tax (VAT), from consumers.
“Together, let us shape an energy sector that is reliable, sustainable, and worthy of the aspirations of our people,” President Marcos Jr. said in closing.
