Many parents are failing their children, not because they lack education, but because they refuse to use common sense. Even the least educated person should recognize that if their child stops moving, responding, or even starts smelling odd, something is seriously wrong. When you compare communities where children are frequently sick and dying to those where they’re not, the difference becomes obvious—yet some still refuse to acknowledge it. No amount of separation from education or technology justifies this negligence. If your child is at risk of dying, you take steps to prevent it. The problem isn’t just ignorance—it’s misinformation.
Parents fall victim to fear-mongering, convinced that because they survived childhood illnesses like measles, their children will too. Worse, they believe the lie that vaccines cause autism and would rather risk their child’s death than have them be autistic. The fear stems from misinformation, not reality. Vaccines do not cause autism—it’s a baseless myth. Yet, the misinformation spreads so effectively that even well-meaning parents are led astray. One speaker recalls his ex-wife initially believing these claims, but after doing real research, they learned the truth and fully vaccinated their children. The sheer volume of false information makes it easy to be misled, but responsible parenting means seeking out facts, not fear.

WHAT IS THE NON-PROPHETS?
The Non-Prophets is a internet show airing at 06:00pm Central time Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday each week. Where we navigate through current events, providing a secular viewpoint that adds depth to the unfolding narrative.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.
