The Mennonite community in West Texas has become the center of a measles outbreak, prioritizing "medical freedom" over vaccines. The old saying, “God helps those who help themselves,” seems to have been lost on them. With RFK Jr. now heading the Department of Health, previously eliminated diseases like measles are making a disturbing comeback. Misinformation, distrust in medical institutions, and blind faith over reason have created a perfect storm for a major public health crisis.

Isolated communities, already lacking access to quality healthcare and education, are particularly vulnerable. Without proper outreach and information, these groups make decisions that endanger not only themselves but the wider public. Faith alone cannot prevent disease—science can. A simple vaccine shot could have saved lives, but instead, people are suffering needlessly due to misplaced fears and misguided beliefs. As preventable diseases return, we’re seeing firsthand the deadly consequences of rejecting modern medicine.

WHAT IS THE NON-PROPHETS?

The Non-Prophets is a internet show airing at 06:00pm Central time Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday each week. Where we navigate through current events, providing a secular viewpoint that adds depth to the unfolding narrative.

The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.
