Ziz, originally known as Jack Lasota, emerged in 2016 as a radical blogger promoting an unusual blend of rationalism, ethical veganism, and anarchism. Their following, self-identified as "Zizians," grew over time. However, Ziz's activities took a darker turn, leading to multiple criminal incidents. In 2019, they were arrested for blocking exits at a Center for Applied Rationality meeting, an act that foreshadowed a series of escalating crimes.
By August 2022, Ziz faked her own death, with her mother claiming she had drowned off a boat. An online obituary was even published to cement the deception. However, not long after, she attacked her landlord during an eviction dispute, leaving him impaled and partially blinded. Though he initially survived, he was later killed, and another individual, Maximilian Snyder, was charged with the murder. The Associated Press did not officially identify him as a member of the Zizians, but the connection remained a subject of speculation.
The violence did not end there. The parents of a Zizian member were brutally murdered in their home, with a haunting doorbell camera recording capturing a voice crying out "Mom!" before the attack. Then, in January 2025, members of the group were involved in the fatal shooting of a border agent, Teresa Youngblood. One of the passengers in the vehicle, also linked to the Zizians, was killed in the confrontation.
The crime spree came to an end in early 2025, when Ziz and the daughter of the murdered Philadelphia couple were arrested in Maryland. They were charged with trespassing, obstruction, and illegal possession of a firearm, bringing a close to the violent saga of the Zizians.

WHAT IS THE NON-PROPHETS?

The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.
