Many people believe in absolute personal freedom—nobody should tell them how to live or raise their families. While that sentiment is understandable, the issue arises when decision-makers within families stop learning. Once people are no longer required to seek knowledge, they often don’t. This leads to outdated or incorrect beliefs about medicine, vaccines, and public health. Instead of engaging with new research, people stick to what they think they know, often ignoring the bigger picture.
Misinformation thrives when people view data in a vacuum. Some parents see reports of rare vaccine side effects but fail to compare them to the much greater risks of preventable diseases like measles. Without context, they scare themselves into inaction, believing they’re protecting their families when they’re actually exposing them to far greater harm. Vaccines work because they prevent disease, not because they are risk-free—but the risks of disease vastly outweigh the risks of vaccination. Ignoring this fact doesn’t make it any less true.

WHAT IS THE NON-PROPHETS?
The Non-Prophets is a internet show airing at 06:00pm Central time Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday each week. Where we navigate through current events, providing a secular viewpoint that adds depth to the unfolding narrative.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.
