Smart Retract, makers of Retract-A-Gate, offers the widest retractable gates on the market (6 feet). If you need to baby proof an area wider than 6 feet, you can attach two of the baby gates together using Gate Connector Straps (available at http://www.Retract-A-Gate.com). Attaching two Retract-A-Gates is great for corralling your kids and/or pets into one room, but should be used for special circumstances only. Retract-A-Gate is certified by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association to be safe for the top of stairs, but has not been certified for double gate use. We do have lots of day cares using them to close off wide areas and they love them!
