Here is another unique way to install the Retract-A-Gate at the top of the stairs. As recommended, the gate is installed at least 6” back from the top step. A board that matches the banister woodwork is strapped to the banister post to save the post from being drilled into and the zip ties hold the board securely to the banister. The Mounting Brackets are screwed to the board at the proper heights in accordance with the installation guide that comes with the Retract-A-Gate. The lower bracket on the wall side of the installation is attached to the baseboard, therefore, Wall Spacers are required to put behind the top bracket to make both brackets flush with each other.
