Exploring abandoned mines sometimes turns into cave exploration. This pre-Civil War abandoned mine is one of those places. We rappel into an old silver mine with origins dating back to 1847 that intersects a cave system that once held elaborate crystal formations that would rival any protected cave system today. It is difficult to tell the difference on what open voids in the mountain are man-made or natural in this one. There are reports from other explorers in the past that this abandoned mine is haunted as well.
