ABANDONED UNDERGROUND | The El Paso Tin Mines- Abandoned Mines Anyone Can Visit! @ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND | Uploaded January 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
We head to the northeast part of the Franklin Mountains in El Paso, TX to explore America's only tin mine. It operated from 1909 to 1915 producing about 16,000 pounds of tin. Today, the tin mines reside within the Franklin Mountains State Park. Anyone can visit the mine, (just pay a $5 entrance fee to the park) just remember to bring a flashlight!
The trailhead to the mine is at Chuck Heinrich Park, at the end of Jon Cunningham in northeast El Paso. It is roughly 3 1/2 miles up to the mine with an elevation gain of 900 feet (not too steep).
