In this video, we continue to explore more of the many underground passageways inside of Hollow Mountain. These two mines each had some unique features to offer. One had beef quarters that cattle rustlers hid in the mine from many decades ago and fluorescent minerals. The other had mid-twentieth century era clothing strewn about in a drift and a large ballroom stope! I apologize for the "sniffles" (no it's not Coronavirus!) When I filmed this adventure back if February, I was just getting destroyed with my seasonal allergies due to a windy, dusty day. On top of that, the insane amount of dust we kicked up within these mines didn't do me any favors as well.

An Earthquake-Ravaged Abandoned Mine Exploration

$The Fractured Abandoned Underground- Exploring the Copper Bear Mine Part 1 Today, our adventure leads to the mountains to explore an old, abandoned copper and lead mine that dates back to 1916. This mine is situated in a large section of highly fractured limestone that stretches for several hundred miles across the state! The vein the miners were chasing sits on a shallow angle that dips 5 to 15 degrees, so the stopes are all interconnected and can be traversed without any rope gear. The frightening fractures in this abandoned mine would subdue most peoples desire to explore this place, but here we are. Joining us are Kenny and Todd from the @ZiaMountainAdventures YouTube channel! I am glad to have met them and had a blast exploring this abandoned mine with them!
