Today, our adventure leads to the mountains to explore an old, abandoned copper and lead mine that dates back to 1916. This mine is situated in a large section of highly fractured limestone that stretches for several hundred miles across the state! The vein the miners were chasing sits on a shallow angle that dips 5 to 15 degrees, so the stopes are all interconnected and can be traversed without any rope gear. The frightening fractures in this abandoned mine would subdue most people's desire to explore this place, but here we are.

Joining us are Kenny and Todd from the @ZiaMountainAdventures YouTube channel! I am glad to have met them and had a blast exploring this abandoned mine with them! Their perspective of this abandoned mine is here- youtube.com/watch?v=_8O2zuH-3uE , and I highly suggest you check it out! You will see a lot more of me in their video (which I'm not in front of the camera so much), also you will be seeing what I do from a different point of view and when I'm not shooting video and gain much more insight to this abandoned mine with an amazing exploring partner. Todd got some great shots that I missed! If you are inclined to do so, head over to their channel, check out where they've been and subscribe! We initially thought we completed a full exploration of this mine, but as I studied the map further after I got back from this place, we missed A LOT! I figure we may have to return to finish this place out at a later time. I'll keep you updated, thanks for watching, and please subscribe!

This video was shot in 4K HDR! If you have a capable HDR display, I highly suggest you watch it in HDR. There is a considerable difference in colors and lighting!
