On Sandra Dee's birthday, I thought I would do a tribute to her debut film, "Until They Sail" (1957), directed by Robert Wise. It's the story of four sisters in WW2 New Zealand and their romances with US Marines - two of which are ill-fated. This was one of Paul Newman's early roles, and it's interesting to see Joan Fontaine, Jean Simmons, and Piper Laurie play Sandra's sisters since they were all considerably older than her. (John Wilder played Sandra's love interest in the film). Sandra felt that this was one of the best films she had made. The theme is by David Raksin, lyrics written by Sammy Cahn, and the vocals performed by Edie Gorme.

Those of you who have followed my channel for quite a few years know that several years back I made a slide show tribute to Ursula Andress. I thought it was long overdue for a re-do, this time using clips from some of her films. Once again, Johnny Hartmans rendition of A Slow, Hot Wind is a perfect fit. Enjoy!
