Just a quick snapshot of some of my favourite 3D art works that I've done these past few of months. Rendered in realtime using the Unreal Engine 5 game engine. #shorts
Blender was used for some asset creation and simulations, Quixel megascans for some 3d assets and texturing. Marketplace contect for specialised assets. All final outputs done in UE5.

So it’s been about a year since I started posting my Unreal Engine 5 journey here, and honestly it’s flown by. From wading my way through the sea of bugs in Early Access, to the final release of UE5, it’s been a hell of a ride! And having my work featured in the Unreal Engine 5 release keynote and the creators sizzle reel was an amazing highlight to finish off this first year in Unreal 5!
I thought I’d gather together a showcase of some of my favourite scenes I’ve done; from re-imaginings of games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, to oceans and indoor terrariums. It’s been great to put UE5 through its paces, testing out Nanite, Lumen and new workflows to take advantage of the power of realtime rendering.
These scenes are from various projects ranging from Early Access 1&2, Preview 1&2 to the full 5.0 release. Do note that especially for the earlier EA scenes, some features are incomplete or missing (like Lumen not fully supporting plants etc...)
Its been a blast playing around with Unreal Engine 5! Here’s to many more to come!

More 3090 stress tests! Nanite for all meshes and landscape – mostly megascans assets and atlases for the foliage. Hardware lumen for reflections and global illumination. No path-tracing used for this!

I made Sadrith Mora in Unreal Engine 5 – at a more realistic and lore-accurate scale! Part of an ongoing project to visualise a more realistic and lore-accurate size to Tamriels cities, removed from gameplay and technical restrictions.
Sadrith Mora is where Morrowind really gets kinda weird. The houses are mushrooms, the buildings and towers are mushrooms. Just … so many mushrooms…

I made Ald’ruhn in Unreal Engine 5 – at a more realistic and lore-accurate scale!
Morrowind is just so delightfully… weird … especially compared to Skyrim and Oblivion’s more traditional high-fantasy aesthetic. It’s really not shy about how out-there it is – and Ald’ruhn is maybe one of the best examples of that. Also: beeg crab. Skar is such an incredibly cool concept. I mean, building a city partly inside the shell of a giant crab is just very… Morrowind. Some creative license is used here of-course, but overall I tried to keep to the aesthetic of the original game and extrapolate out based of that.
Part of an ongoing project to visualise a more realistic and lore-accurate size to Tamriels cities, removed from gameplay and technical restrictions.

The Fallow Mire was always a very interesting level from a lighting standpoint – very dramatic and moody atmosphere – and that giant moon hanging low in the sky gave quite an imposing effect.

This is for my ‘Thedas Magic Mystery World Tour’ where I’m re-creating ... spiritual re-imaginings in the form of little cinematics from the game Dragon Age: Inquisition (originally Frostbite 3) in Unreal Engine 5! Mostly because it’s a more fun way of learning UE5 and getting the hang of the new features like Lumen and Nanite.
This scene started to incorporate a lot of other more complex elements like the rain and the water ripples, along with more emphasis on the exponential height fog to capture a more artistic lighting environment. A combination of self-modelled and third-party assets were used, along with some Quixel Megascans for the ground and the trees.
The rain was a Niagara system using a physical mesh-based raindrop – expensive, but turned out pretty nicely for that spitting rain effect. The water was simulated in Blender using dynamic paint vertex displacement and then bought into Unreal Engine 5 using alembic geometry cache.
Extensive use of nanite here – although lumen was having a bit of trouble with the darker-lit areas of the scene – so some supplementing with point/rect lights were necessary in some cases, along with cranking up the indirect light bounces for the directional light. The moon was actually a nanite physical UV sphere with an emission shader – this allowed very fine control of the positioning and framing of the scene, while also allowing the sky atmosphere to react to the moon in 3D space. The clouds and fog were simply animated texture cards.
