One of the most popular arbitrary "standard" for measuring strength, especially for men, is being able to finally nail that two plate bench press. A solid 225 pounds on the bar, it looks especially beautiful knowing that you're slapping two on each side of the heaviest weight plates found in most gyms (just don't get lost in a powerlifting gym with even heavier plates or you're going to feel weak again). Arbitrary or not, this is a feat that anyone can be happy to say that have completed.
