In today’s Friday Focus: How to Delete British History From Australia. I’ll give you a clue: it’s got something to do with the national flag.
You would think the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union would be focused on preserving Australia’s dwindling manufacturing industry—though demanding constant wage hikes and striking probably doesn’t help their cause against cheap Asian labour. But instead, they seem to have been infiltrated by far-left activists.
On their website, they encourage members to put pronouns in their email signatures, just to ensure everyone falls in line with far-left gender ideology. A quick look at their Facebook page reveals they clearly despise Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, labelling her “anti-worker” and sharing ABC articles declaring she’s “proudly bought by billionaires.”
However, hidden inside a post about “structural barriers and cultural bias systematically denying women wealth,” you can download their 2026 Blueprint for Action. On page 26, under Solidarity with First Nations Peoples, they demand:
“Abolish the symbols of oppression: We need to strip away the constant reminders of the old ruling class and colonial empire. Symbols of oppression — like the Union Jack on our flag and offensive colonial statues — must be removed from public life.”
Don’t worry, 7NEWS reported: “Labor plays down calls to remove Union Jack from the Australian flag as critics accuse unions of fuelling division.”
But of course, our national broadcaster—always dedicated to bringing the nation together—decided to broadcast the idea to children on Behind the News. They know adults aren’t buying it, so they figure they’d better get ’em while they’re young.
Naturally, they open the segment by stating it’s “presented on Kaurna Country.” Apparently, you’re not allowed to say Adelaide to children anymore. They show the current Australian flag, then magically make the Union Jack vanish.
Enter roving reporter Kushi Venkatesh, who explains to Australian schoolchildren why the flag features a “controversial symbol” representing a British colonial past that stole Aboriginal land. She even gives a nod to the AMWU for proposing its removal, before finding a few white people who happily agree that we should replace it with an Indigenous symbol like Ayers Rock—sorry, Uluru. Once again, the Union Jack is branded a “symbol of oppression.”
Basically, according to our far-left unions and national broadcaster, any hint that Britain existed or contributed to this great country must be deleted at all costs—lest somebody, somewhere, feels offended.
