British Prime Minister Theresa May addressed the House of Commons regarding the Skripal nerve agent case in London on Monday.
May claimed that Russia was either ‘responsible’ for the ‘attempted murder’ of the former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia or was negligent in its handling of 'weapons-grade nerve agents.'
“Should there be no credible response, we will conclude that this action amounts to an unlawful use of force by the Russian state against the United Kingdom, and I will come back to this House and set out the full range of measures we will take in response,” May told MPs.
Skripal and his daughter were found unconscious after a nerve agent attack a week ago in the English city of Salisbury. They remain in a critical but stable condition in Salisbury district hospital.
The 66-year-old former Russian military intelligence officer was convicted in Russia of supplying MI6 with Russian state secrets. Part way through his jail term, in 2010, he was involved in a spy swap and given refuge in the UK.
