(Brief Retrospective) - US, UK and France have launched airstrikes against multiple government targets in Damascus early on Saturday morning, targeting alleged chemical weapons sites as well as a Syrian military base in Homs. More than 100 missiles where launched on targets in Syria. Airstrikes lasted only for 15 minutes.
The President of The United States Donald J. Trump in a statement announcing the attacks said : "Today, the nations of Britain, France and the United States of America have marshalled their righteous power against barbarism and brutality."
US President Trump also stated that:"America does not seek an indefinite presence in Syria, under no circumstances. As other nations step up their contribution, we look forward to the day when we can bring our warriors home, and what great warriors they are. Looking around our very troubled world, Americans have no illusions. We cannot purge the world of evil, or act everywhere there is tyranny."
The strikes are a response to a supposed chemical weapons attack on #Douma last week. Syria and Russia have both denied the allegations, calling them 'staged' and a 'fabrication'.

![Lavrov to May - Follow international law before giving ultimatums to Russia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov advised the United Kingdom government to follow international law before giving ultimatums to Russia over the Sergei Skripal poisoning case, after meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi in Moscow, Tuesday.
“We immediately issued an official request to have access to that substance [nerve agent] so that our exports could study it according to Chemical Weapons Convention,” stressed Sergei Lavrov adding that “we got an unclear answer that we were refused to [have] these [lawful] demands to be met.”
Before putting ultimatums to answer in front of the British government in 24 hours, the [British government] should follow its own responsibilities of international law, stated Lavrov.
The Russian foreign minister added that Russia is innocent and ready to cooperate in terms of the Chemical Weapons Convention. When asked by a BBC journalist whether Russia had anything to do with the Skripal case, Lavrov responded that this is nonsense.
“I ask you one more time, please spell out in details everything that I’m saying here and don’t confine it to a phrase that I already foresee: ‘Lavrov dodged answering the question if Russia is guilty’, said Lavrov.
