Ubuntu has quietly increased the minimum recommended system requirements for the upcoming Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon) release. For the first time in years, the recommended RAM has been raised from 4GB to 6GB for the desktop edition.

According to the official specifications, Ubuntu 26.04 LTS will require:
• 2 GHz dual-core processor
• 6 GB RAM
• 25 GB free storage

The CPU and storage requirements remain unchanged, but the RAM increase reflects modern computing needs such as the GNOME desktop environment, multitasking, modern web browsers, and heavier applications.
