A mama black bear gave the signal to her two babies to go up a tree to avoid a male black bear who could kill the babies so that their mom would come into estrus and be ready to mate. By the time we got there the babies were hot and tired of being up the tree but mom wasn't ready for them to come down yet. So they continued to stay up there.
