Epic Nature Judy Lehmberg | Horseshoe crabs mating @JudyLehmbergEpicNature | Uploaded January 2021 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
On the shores of Long Island, New York a pair of horseshoe crabs are mating.
As a biology teacher and long time nature lover there are some organisms that hold a special place in my heart. Plants and animals such as cycads, crocodiles and horseshoe crabs have lived unchanged for many millions of years. I have wanted to see horseshoe crabs in person for decades and I recently got my chance.
Although they are named horseshoe crabs they are not crabs. They are much more closely related to spiders than they are crabs.
