Black Screen of Death (BSoD) is a harmful thing that can happen after saving in certain areas of the Void and reloading the game. It renders the game unplayable and it cannot be undone (without use of game altering devices). If you wish to play after that, you are forced to start a new save file. To avoid losing your save file to the BSoD, you should always do a BSoD test before saving in an area: do as you would do to refresh the graphics (choose something from the menu except save or exit and then come back). If the game freezes, it would have caused a BSoD. If the game doesn't freeze, it is a safe place to save in, unless it is the Jubilife City with the Gym music (this causes BSoD even if it appears safe). If you travel too far in one direction (multiple ~65k steps), every area will cause a BSoD.
