Maja blanca in turon?! š½ It's crazy delicious! This is Filipino Food Forward, a new FEATR series where we give some of our favorite local dishes a different twist. ⨠This "hybrid" snack was a feast for the senses, combining the rich and creamy goodness of maja blanca and the satisfying crunch of turon. You need to give this a try. š„
TURON MAJA BLANCA
Ingredients:
½ cup condensed milk
2 cups coconut milk
½ cup corn kernels
¼ cup cornstarch, dissolved in ½ cup coconut milk
12 pcs pastry wrapper
oil for frying
sugar for coating
Procedure:
1. Combine condensed milk and coconut milk. Bring to a simmer then add your corn.
2. Slowly mix in the cornstarch mixture and cook until thick and big bubbles start to burst.
3. Place into an oiled heatproof container and chill until solid. Cut into batons and wrap with lumpia wrappers.
4. Fry until almost golden and remove from the oil. Add the sugar and once melted, add turon to coat. Makes 6 servings.
