There was an interesting short but strange “event” when the lights went out at the White House for a moment, as #US President Donald J. #Trump reaffirmed his "full faith and support for America's intelligence agencies,"
Trump said that he does accept US #intelligenceagencies' conclusion that #Russia meddled in the #2016presidentialelection but also stated that two Presidents had a very, very good meeting”.
US President Trump said that misunderstanding came about because he misspoke during Monday's joint press conference with Russian President #VladimirPutin. Reading from a script, he stressed, "I said the word 'would' instead of 'wouldn't.' And the sentence should have been - and I thought it would be maybe a little bit unclear on the transcript or unclear on the actual video - the sentence should have been: I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia. Sort of a double negative.
Trump also spoke about his meeting with Russian President #Putin at Helsinki stating: “I think we have a very good chance of having some very positive things. I thought that the meeting that I had with President Putin was really strong. I think that they were willing to do things that, frankly, I wasn't sure whether or not they would be willing to do. And we'll be having future meetings and we'll see whether or not that comes to fruition. But we had a very, very good meeting."

![Putin - “Dialogue with Trump can be constructive and useful!”
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that dialogue between himself and his US counterpart Donald Trump can be constructive,
Vladimir Putin stated that he hopes US President Donald Trump to fulfil one of his electoral promises concerning improving Russian-American relations.
“Trump fulfils his promises given during his election campaign. One of the promises is to improve Russian-American relations. I hope that this will happen as well. In any case, we are ready for this. I believe that the ball is in the American court, Putin said.
According to the Russian leader, a possible meeting with the US president will be “useful. The only question is whether the domestic political situation in the United States would allow this [to happen].
Full Translation from Russian to English:
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia: You know, it was discussed from the very beginning, after Mr. Donald Trumps election as president in the United States. We talked about this from the very beginning. And we responded from the very beginning that we believe that such personal meetings are expedient, and not just simply possible. We met with the president of the United States at various international venues. But of course this does not give us an opportunity to give the necessary attention to Russian-American relations. In general, I think this meeting is useful. The only question is whether the domestic political situation in the United States would allow this [to happen].”…The experience I have with the president of the United States says that although his actions are often criticized, especially recently, in the international arena, for example in the economic sphere, tells me that he is a thoughtful man. He knows how to listen and responds to the arguments presented by the interlocutor. All this gives me a reason to believe that dialogue can be constructive.”….The fact is that this will not work with anyone. The relationship between the leaders of governments should be acceptable and civilized, but this does not exclude the decision making of this or that leader which they consider important or expedient for his own country. You can differently refer to those decisions that are made in the United States, including by the US president. You can criticize these decisions, indeed, a lot of decisions deserve criticism. But there is one circumstance about which I have already spoken. Trump fulfils his promises given during his election campaign. One of the promises is to improve Russian-American relations. I hope that this will happen as well. In any case, we are ready for this. I believe that the ball is in the American court.”….
Sergey Brilev, Russian journalist: “So preparation for the meeting is already underway, but so far only in the US?”
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia: I did not say that. Thats what you said. I want to say that we are ready for the development, deepening and normalisation of relations with the United States. Instruments can be different, including personal meetings.”
