I bought the original TRMNL about a year ago and liked the idea straight away: simple setup, long battery life, useful feeds, and a proper open-source/community feel. With TRMNL X, the hardware feels more mature, the setup is smoother, the refresh is less intrusive, and the whole ecosystem feels much more polished.
In this video I set up TRMNL X, compare it with the original, look at the plugin and playlist system, and think about where this kind of ambient information screen actually fits in a home or workspace.
