Sandwell is a major station on the Birmingham branch of the West Coast Main Line between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton. It sees services operated by London Northwestern Railway, West Midlands Railway, Avanti West Coast, Transport for Wales and CrossCountry, all of which are included in this video.
Fun fact - this session of spotting here was completely a mistake! I had intended to get a later West Midlands Railway service to Smethwick Galton Bridge, but had ended up getting an earlier one that didn't stop there... What a good mistake it was though! I wish I'd brought my camcorder as the sweeping curves either side of the station would have got some brilliant optical zoom shots.
One problem at Sandwell and Dudley I noticed is that there are absolutely zero benches in the whole station! This is the first station I've visited that has this. Sitting on the floor does get a bit annoying if you're spotting here for long periods.
Nonetheless, it was a really fun visit and I would definitely like to visit again.
