Description: When I pull into the driveway after work Miss Shadow always meets me or comes when I call her at the door for dinner. It’s one of the things I’ve come to love about coming home. To have my little buddy greet me with purrs and love. She wasn’t there this time and didn’t come when I called her for dinner. I went out several times during the night calling for my little buddy, but she never came home. My wife and I were worried something may have happened to her. She likes to explore people’s garages, so we thought she might have got locked up in one for the night, and most likely wouldn’t be let out until that someone opened the garage to go to work. So we thought she would most likely be home for dinner on Friday, or earlier if she was hungry. Well tragedy hit home Thursday around 3:00-4:30pm, 14 December 2017, but we didn’t know until Friday. I got a call from my wife on Friday about 2pm at work. On the way home from the store my son and her found her dead on the side of the road behind our house . Miss Shadow, my little mechanics buddy was dead. We think she was hit by a car while crossing the road behind our house on the way home to greet me as usual, and for dinner. My son and wife got in the truck, while I was still at work, and picked her up, wrapped her and brought her home for us. I didn’t know how attached I had gotten to her until I got home and didn’t see here at the door waiting for me as usual. Then saw her wrapped up in a towel in that trash bag on the back porch, waiting for me. It broke my heart to see her like that and to think my little buddy was gone. As a family we held a little service for her, our little family member and friend. We buried her in the back yard under the tree she loved to climb in to be near us, while we would swing on the swing, under that very tree. We will really miss her, and I really miss her, my little mechanics buddy that would come and hang out with me when I worked on cars. She was an outside cat, she could have been anywhere outside, but she chose to be with me when I was outside. It’s a wonderful blessing to have a little friend and buddy like that, and it’s a tragedy when they’re gone. We, I, thank the Lord for the time we’ve had with her. If you have a pet cherish them, take care of them and love them while you can, they will be gone soon enough, hopefully not to soon.
