This is pretty much the same process for all computer using an internal bay. Whether using a laptop or a desk top the basic steps are the same. You can also do this using a USB to HDD/SATA Hard Drive Adapter that can be purchased on line, eBay/Amazon etc.
Parts I used: Samsung SSD 850 EVO (500GB Hard Drive)
- ASUS Extra Hard Drive Adapter P/N: Unknown. It came with the ASUS. Please comment if you know it.
- Software: Samsung Solid State Drive "One-stop Install Navigarot Manual & Software" Version 4.5 (Came with the Hard Drive).

Most people don't know that you can replace your smaller hard drive with a bigger one by Cloning it.
This is a video on how I did a full clone on my wifes ASUS G74S Laptops 250GB SSD to a 500GB SSD. This gave her more hard drive space/memory while still keeping her Licensed Windows 7, all her License Programs and all her DATA.
- So what is Cloning?
Cloning is the process by which you take all the Data, Programs like Microsoft windows, ALL your games And even your operating system like Windows (whatever version you have, 95 to Win 10) and put them on a bigger hard drive. add a bigger hard drive to a bigger one. After cloning you can just simply remove the old hard drive and drop in the new one and off you go as if it had always been there.
- Why Clone a hard drive? Simply to add more hard drive space or as a back up.
Cloning is also a great backup plan in case your hard drive crashes. It's great because you don't have to load windows back on it, which can take a day with updates, then another day to load all your program, and device drivers and hope it all works. Also not to mention that now you may have to deal with license problems. Cloning avoids all that and if your hard drive does crash all you have to do is drop in the clone and off you go in a matter of minutes instead of days. Of course the clone is only as up to date as the last time you cloned it or updated it. So if your data is real important to you make sure you either add the data to the clone drive on a regular basis, the easy war, or clone it often.
