Description: This video is how to change your 1998 to 2003 F250 - F350 7.3L Tensioner. It’s a Step by Step instructional with some tips on: Tools, P/N’s, Price and Misc. info.
Part I used:
- Belt Tensioner Assembly Gates 38191 $51.40 Ford/Motorcraft Part Number is: BT-50.
Alt Part Numbers: Duralast 305257, Dayco 89257, Litens 999054A, ACDelco Pro 38191, Gates 38191
If you wish to just change the pulleys use:
- Ribbed: P/N: Dayco 89057 $14.99 to $46.91.
- Smooth: P/N: Dorman 419-612 $13.50 to $24.99.
If you wish to just change the bearings inside the pulleys use:
- Sealed Bearing P/N: 6203-2RS, $10.00 for two. Note you’ll have to know how to do this without warping the pulley’s themselves. Use a digital caliper to ensure the old bearing dimensions are: ID-17 mm x OD-40 mm x Width-12 mm if using the 6203-2RS. Most Idler Pulleys us the 6203-2RS but ensure the old pulley dimensions are correct prior to ordering them.
Tools I used: Note you can RENT most of these tools from AutoZone or another Parts Store.
- 1/2” Torque Wrench, capable of 35-45 ft. lbl’s. $37.00-$55.00 for a cheap one.
- 1/2” Braker Bar.
- 1/2" to 3/8” Drive Adapter.
- 13 mm 3/8” or 1/2" Drive Deep Socket.
- 13 mm 3/8” Drive Socket.
- Stubby or Palm 3/8” Drive Ratchet.
